This work explores the deep emotions triggered by the pandemic, focusing on the lasting feelings of isolation and confinement that still affect us today. The pandemic has significantly impacted my mental health, inspiring a series of images that reflect the emotional struggles and mental fatigue many have experienced.
The series begins with an image inviting the viewer into a room that represents the space I was confined to during the pandemic. This room symbolizes the isolation and restriction we all felt at some point. Through the careful use of light, shadow, and space, I've created a sense of claustrophobia, encouraging viewers to connect with these emotions.
The room also represents my mind, capturing the conflicting emotions I, as an introvert, faced during the pandemic. While being confined in my personal space felt suffocating, it also provided relief from social demands. This contrast is shown through the use of light and shadow, symbolizing the tension between feeling trapped and feeling free.
In the final image of the series, the viewer steps out of the confined space into the light, symbolizing the joy of brief social interactions. This last image serves as a reminder of hope and the ongoing possibility of reconnecting with the world around us.
